What’s your favourite thing about working at CIRCA?
One of the things I like most about working at CIRCA is the meaningful dimension of our work.
At CIRCA we care about what we do, and we take great care in how we do it. We care about the network of research consultants, who are an essential piece of our work and within the team, we care about each other. This “caring” aspect is important to me and is not easy to find in all workplaces.
I must also say that Cultural Perspectives is a very fun place to work. We celebrate cultural events at the office, organise cooking sessions and attend many events together. We can’t deny it: we like to celebrate!
How did you ending working in the CALD space?
Meeting people from diverse backgrounds with stories and cultures to learn and share has always attracted me. I guess connecting and understanding others is something that goes with my personality, and I feel very fortunate to have found a career path that allows me to do that. By migrating to Australia, my family and I have become part of the CALD communities, so it has taken on a much more special meaning. I now have a greater sense of something I only intuited before: the importance of working for the respect and recognition of all traditions, cultures and beliefs.
Three different countries you recommend visiting and why
My number one is Colombia: its people, art, music and incredible landscapes. From the Caribbean to the Amazon. It is a place where I always want to come back.
The next one is Portugal. I spent one day in Lisbon and fell in love. Then I went back to live there for six months. It grabs you: beautiful architecture, rich history and culture, and delicious food. ¡Eu amo Lisboa!
Last but not least, Madagascar. A country with extraordinary and unique wildlife and plants (like here in Australia), beautiful nature and vibrant culture with fascinating traditions, such as the Malagasy funeral tradition “Famadihana”.
