Yvonne is an independent councillor for the City of Sydney, the first Aboriginal Councillor elected in the City’s 180-year history.
Previously, Yvonne was the Aboriginal Program Coordinator with the Cancer Institute NSW and has also implemented smoking cessation programs in her role as Closing the Gap Program Manager in South Eastern Sydney. Yvonne is the Deputy Chair of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council, Deputy Chair of the New South Wales Australia Day Council, and a current board member of Domestic Violence NSW. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2022 for her work with Aboriginal communities.
Yvonne has been involved in many of CIRCA’s health projects, particularly those focused on tobacco, including the evaluation of the NSW Aboriginal Quitline Enhancement Project and the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program evaluation.
