We are excited to announce that our book club has officially been named The Salon, referencing the long history of Literary Salons for people to meet and discuss ideas.
At the latest gathering of The Salon we discussed Black is the New White by Nakkiah Lui, a play depicting a humorous Christmas family gathering. It was great to read a play that offered a nuanced portrayal of the diversity of experience and perspectives on race within First Nations’ communities. We all loved the light-hearted tone, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a laugh.
A shout out as well to Native Foodways, a First Nations owned and led enterprise, who provided delicious treats to accompany our chat.
