Whoever. Wherever. Whenever. Everyone has the right to seek safety.
World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It falls each year on June 20 and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. World Refugee Day also falls in Refugee Week (June 19 – June 25), Australia’s peak annual activity to inform the public about refugees and celebrate positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.
CIRCA would like to acknowledge and honour refugees around the globe and within CIRCA’s network and recognises their resilience in rebuilding their lives. Some of CIRCA’s work concerning refugee communities includes a research study on multicultural media preferences and information needs and a research study involving small business owners from refugee backgrounds to inform Service NSW’s Easy to do Business service.
As part of Refugee Week several events are being held this week and we encourage you to participate in one if you have the opportunity to do so. Here are 2 Refugee Week events in Sydney that you can check out, which showcase the work of newly arrived artists
